I am pleased to announce that, after some unfortunate delays, my review of Scott Cairns’ 2023 book Lacunae has been published by Radix Magazine.
I love this book and I’ve read it over and over. Scott has been writing and poetry since the early 80’s. He is an amazing person and his words and ideas are delightful. Sometimes they are challenging and require the reader to slow down and think. He talks about “the gift of difficult syntax,” which made me laugh. Yes, sometimes his syntax can be difficult. But that’s what forces a reader to slow down, and avoid the temptation to fly through, flipping pages, not getting the point, not appreciating the wealth of what just passed before our eyes.
Please get a copy and commit to reading it slowly at least two times through.
